Boss Babes of Beauty Savant: Jennifer

Sometimes you meet someone that is just awesomely kind. No matter who they are speaking to or visiting with, they exude happy. When I met Jennifer Guffey that is how I felt. Which is saying something because generally I think dogs are nicer than people, so if I am struck by kindness it means something.

The first thing that I noticed about Jenny was that she was always smiling. Always. When I ran into her at the gym last week and asked her what her workout was she said “a fifteen mile Airdyne ride!” while grinning. Just the thought of fifteen miles on that hell machine makes me want to vomit. And there she was, pedaling away, smiling, while kicking everyone’s ass at the gym. The second thing I noticed was her killer style. She can make pastels look so cool and a white shift dress look good enough to party in. And this is coming from someone who wears black every single day. Someone who dresses their infant in black. Literally.

So she is kind, cool, trendy…and an absolute killer in the gym. This girl will smoke you in a workout and has two young (ridiculously adorable) children. She happens to also be a successful and creative Interior Designer for over a decade and is now launching a line of fabrics and wallpaper as well as her soon to be released line of Resort Wear Dresses. I love my diverse group of Boss Babes and was thrilled when Jennifer agreed to participate. Check her out!

  • Looking natural is always my beauty and makeup goal.

• Best Beauty Advice received and from whom:
  • My sister has always been more interested in trying out the latest makeup trends. She always taught me to keep it subtle, but flawless.

• Skincare Routine: 
  • It has changed so much recently, but no matter how busy I get I always use moisturizer every morning and night. During both of my pregnancies I started using Belli products, because the ingredients are all safe. And I’ve just kept buying the face wash and moisturizers because they’re perfect for my skin.

• Signature Fragrance:
  • I use Philosophy Pure Grace. It’s not perfume-y at all, just fresh and crisp.

• Fave mascara or lip product:
  • I’ve been using Benefit Cosmetics- They’re Real Beyond mascara. My go to lip product is Burt’s Bees tinted balm! It’s easy and adds just a hint of color.

• Top 3 Desert Island Beauty Essentials:
  • Lip Balm, Face Wash and Mascara

• When do YOU feel most beautiful:
  • I love to dress up, but there’s something about being in workout clothes that makes me feel strong and confident.

• Fave Style Trend:
  • Colorful shift dresses are my go to. They might not be on trend, but they’re timeless. I can feel exhausted and my hair can be a mess, but if I put on a  dress and some cute earrings I feel 1000% better..

• Girl Glamazon/Style Crush:
  • I’ve always loved Blake Lively’s style. She always has a natural look, and her clothes are always perfection!

Tell me a little about YOU! 

I’m a wife and mom of two little ones (Cameron 2, and Caitlin 1). I’ve been an interior designer for about 10 years, and I’ve recently started designing a line of fabrics and wallpaper. Over the years I’ve seen so many different types of textiles, and they really inspired me to get started creating my own patterns. At first I didn’t think I’d actually do anything with them, but one thing led to another and now here I am! It’s such an amazing feeling to be able to design something that is truly my style. During my free time (haha!) I love to do Crossfit. There’s nothing better than training hard for a competition! My husband and I joke, because all our free time is spent at the gym. The community of Crossfit is just amazing.

While some people assume to be a Boss Babe and get things done you need to eat nails for breakfast, Jennifer is a prime example of how being kind can get you places. She gets it done. And she makes me want to buy something other than black (or maybe just a lighter shade of black).
